I know it's like the end of January, but I wanted to take the time and fill everyone in on our first Cayman Christmas! Christmas in Cayman is so much fun. For one, it is warm, which at first is really odd. It's hard listening to "White Christmas" when it's 85 degrees and sunny outside. However, Grand Cayman has TONS of festivities to put you into the Christmas spirit. There are a ton of Christmas Bazaars around the island to take part in. Camana Bay had a tree lighting ceremony, and a parade of lights. Both were very fun to attend! A lot of the round-abouts were all lit up with Christmas lights. It was truly beautiful! I decorated our condo with a small 3 foot Christmas tree, and some lights. (of course I decorated!) :-) Caleb's company, Dart, put on a wonderful Christmas party. The theme was "Havana Nights". We had a BLAST. Everyone he works for is so nice.
We were very fortunate to be able to go home to the states for Christmas. And although, we got to go home a few days early as my dear sister, Tina passed away suddenly, the extra time with family was wonderful. My brother and his family drove up from Texas, and I just loved spending time with them! The Tritons hosted a Christmas party for us in Richmond, so we got to see a lot of the swimmers, and our friends, which was amazing. We also had an opportunity to have brunch in Richmond the Sunday before Christmas, which was wonderful as well. The weather was so so cold, but, we did get to see some snow flurries while we were in Virginia, so that was nice! It was so nice being able to spend extra time with the Millers and the Wells/Torrence clan. I got to hang with Stacey and wrap presents, and just chat, which I hadn't gotten to do in such a long time. We celebrated Christmas morning with the Millers. Wow, that was fun! Sara and Nathan got us all "Forever Lazies"...be looking out for the picture on next year's Christmas card. :-) Then, we went to Stacey and Micah's house to have Christmas lunch/dinner with my side of the family. We had a wonderful time. We missed Tina and my mom terribly, but it gives me great peace knowing they were spending Christmas together with Jesus. What a wonderful Christmas THEY had!!
The day after Christmas we went to Florida. Caleb and I only got to spend a few days down there, but we had such a wonderful time with the Millers and the Bomontis (as always).
Then, as quick as that, we had to come back to Grand Cayman. But, we got to bring someone else along with us....CHLOE!!!! You had no idea how happy I was to be able to bring her back with us. She absolutely loves it here too! She is definitely a warm weather dog!
New Years in Grand Cayman was fun. Lots and lots of fireworks! I think someone was shooting off fireworks at some point all night it felt like! Caleb and I had dinner at Thai Orchid (yum), and then we hung out on Seven Mile Beach for a while. The weather was perfect. Then, we met up with our friends, Dawn and Brandon at Macabuca in West Bay. As we rang in the new year listening to the sound of the ocean, we really looked back on 2012 and just said "wow, what a year it has been, and we cannot wait to see what God is going to do in 2013"!
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas full of friends, family and love!
Until next time...enjoy the pictures of our Christmas/New Years!
